I love a bunch of the Kalavinkas on their site...

http://www.kalavinka-bikes.com/index_j.htm

you gotta select the bikes option at the top of that page, then click on a track bike photo to get into that gallery.

if they ever start taking orders again I'm $ure they'd be happy to do one up the right size... gorgeous but a tad on the pricey side.

I want to see some FG's with Disk Brakes and fatty tires. I have a soft spot for manly ass hardtail mountain bikes.
On a related note...Schwinn made a "mountain bike" in the 80's (I think) called the mesa runner, if any of you have one I will buy it from you, hook a brother up.

Thing about SSFG MTB is I would definitely want to ride with clipless for the hills. Without a granny gear I'd need some serious leg strength for the technical climbs. I just put platforms on my dualie which was platforms on a MTB for the first time in ... 10? 11? years? I feel naked not attached but fell a lot more confident in some rock gardens.

Agreed that Kona is boss. I've never run a Marchozzi fork wonder what the front end on that bike feels like.

I havent mountain biked since like, middle school. But there are some decent trails in my hometown where I will be for the summer, and I think it's entirely possible I will be bitten by the urge to build up a dope mountain bike on which to gnar about in a general fashion.

It just hit me that the Surly Big Dummy reminds me of an El Camino.
